Dorm Hikes

By Dimpika Mittal (Grade 11)

On 6th July, Grade 11 set out for a hike to Shringeshwar. We started early in the morning, the air still cool from the night. The sky was cloudy, and soon a light drizzle began to fall. The gentle rain added freshness to the air, making the green hills shine and the earthy smell of wet soil fill our senses.

Dorm Hike

Walking together with friends, our shoes splashing through little puddles, was pure joy. Before leaving, the school kitchen had packed us a simple but delicious lunch—Thepla and Aloo Ki Sabji. Carrying our food in our backpacks, we felt ready for the day’s adventure ahead.

The Ascent

The path to Shringeshwar was one that wound through fields, small streams, and mucky patches. The climb was not too steep, but the wet ground made it slightly slippery, so we had to watch our steps.

When we reached the top, the view was breathtaking. Mist curled around the hills, and the valley below looked like it had been painted in shades of green. We sat together, sharing our lunches, laughing and talking while the rain came and went in soft waves.

Reflections

By the time we returned to campus, we were tired but elated. Hikes like this remind me of the simple joys of nature: fresh air, good food, and the company of friends. Living here, surrounded by such beauty, I feel lucky to call these hills my home.
