Open House (Middle School)
By Nishka Bhattar and Siddhant Sen (Grade 7)
The Open House, conducted by Grade 8 students, was an engaging and interactive session on experiencing exclusion. During the session, we freely discussed our feelings and experiences of being in a new environment. We spoke about the challenges we face in our day-to-day lives on campus and skills such as emotional management, self-awareness, and time management, which are important skills for both school and life.
It was comforting to know that others among us faced similar struggles, and this also made us feel more connected as a group. In addition to sharing, we also worked together to come up with practical strategies to address these challenges. To create a safe and comfortable space for everyone to speak openly, Students of Grades 4-8 were divided into smaller groups. This arrangement encouraged even the quieter students to share their thoughts without hesitation. The Grade 8 students offered valuable advice based on their experiences. This exchange of thoughts made the session truly collaborative.
It was an enriching experience that left us feeling heard and supported. We eagerly look forward to participating in more such sessions in the future, as they help us grow both personally and socially.
