Grade 10 Dance Performance
By Aarna Gautam (Grade 10)
On August 12, 8 of us from Grade 10 – Shachi, Aarna, Zaara, Prisha, Kriti, Nehal, Ishita and I put on a spectacular and immersive dance performance.

The show began with an introduction to our journey in classical dance. We then presented a description of the Brindavani Thillana – a four and a half minute classical music composition. We chose the music and choreographed the piece ourselves, aiming to highlight the technical aspects and the characteristic movements of the dance.
Following the Bharatnatyam performance, we presented our interpretation of another dance form of Kathak and the composition ‘Tarana’ by Pt. Shri Shri Ravishankar. Here, we focused on intricate footwork and elegant hand movements, rather than facial or eye expressions.
After Kathak, we performed a fusion piece, set to Charishnu by the Gandharva Choir. This performance combined both Kathak and Bharatanatyam equally, featuring jugalbandi, solos, and simultaneous displays of the nuances of both dance forms. This was the most challenging performance to choreograph, and we are glad it came together beautifully.
Ending with a striking pose, we were all left with the thrilling memories of displaying all that we built from the ground up – and having people appreciate it.
It was an enthralling experience and we would all love to do it all over again.
