Cricket Match, Students vs Teachers
By Gatik Sirohia (Grade 9)
The cricket match between the students and teachers was the highlight of the first day. After lunch all of us rushed to the venue. Spicy cucumbers and the sweet and cold sugarcane juice only added to the excitement.
Students won the toss, and chose to bowl first. Yash bowled the first over of the day. Sharad Sir and Satish Dada were the opening batters for the teachers. Ball after ball, over after over, the teachers hit the ball all over the ground. They lost only 3 wickets while scoring a remarkable 204. Sharad Sir scored a magnificent 96 without losing his wicket. Sohm took all three wickets to fall.
The second innings began after the tea-break. Only one question echoed in everyone’s minds - Will the students overcome the big score and win or will it be a lucky day for the teachers? Unfortunately for the students, their wickets began to fall like a pack of cards. The teachers bowled effectively and the star bowler, not surprisingly, was Naagarjun Sir. Vedansh and Hemant from the students’ team built a good partnership during the final overs of the match. However, it was not enough and the students ended up scoring only 166 runs.
The cricket match was the last event of the day and we all walked back to our dorms and homes animatedly chatting about the match.
